the (Floating) Island

The (floating) Island school is a renovation project by proposing a new school on top of an existing public school. By building on top of a preexisting building, the new scheme better addresses the unique needs and privacy concerns for the school and transforms the existing building into a public building for the neighborhood. The school’s Layered Wall structure and organically shaped openings enable a flexible usage of space that allows different activities.
